Bethany's Baby Blessing

We blessed little Bethany today at church. Casey did a great job and the blessing was beautiful. Afterward we had friends and family over to the house for treats and goodies. It was a wonderful event and a great opportunity to officially celebrate her arrival into our family!

The entire blessing was wonderful, but the parts that stand out in my mind are that she will have the determination and strength to pursue her dreams and achieve her goals but will likewise have equal strength to resist temptation. As she grows older, her strongest attribute will be her compassion for others. I love our beautiful baby girl and we are so grateful to have her as a part of our lives.

Proud daddy and his little girl.

Happy family of four..

Emmett was angry that we wouldn't let him play with the camera, so we all decided to cry about it.

Me and my sweetheart.
Beautiful baby girl in her blessing dress. I don't like having my babies blessed in white. I like color, and I like being able to use their blessing outfit more than once. She looked beautiful!

We tried to get sibling photos too, but it didn't go so well...

To start, Emmett didn't enjoy holding Bethany and by the look of it, she didn't like it either.

Then when we tried to get Emmett to lie down next to his sister, he bonked heads with her.

Bethany didn't like that much either.

I tried to get a picture of Emmett kissing Bethany... no luck, my camera is too slow.

Then total chaos ensued. You can barely see Emmett trying to do a somersault behind Bethany.

Please don't crawl on the baby!

Rushing the camera at the last moment. This is when I gave up. Taking pictures with a two year old is REALLY hard. :)
The only photos of from the light lunch we had are ones we took of Bethany with Uncle Craig. He was worried that he might not be good at holding a baby....

The second he picked her up she went from a fussy baby to sleeping beauty.

So I think that according to Bethany, Craig passes the test as being a very skilled baby holder after all.

Emmett was glad that Craig was there too and enjoyed hanging out with his great uncle.

Bethany was quite upset when he left... :)
It was a wonderful day and one that we will remember as a very special event for many years to come. We love you, Bethany!!

=) Taking pictures of toddlers IS hard!

I just have to say, you worked so hard to get that baby girl here, and isn't it wonderful to consider what a precious little soul she is? Just think of all the people she will love and influence! Love it. Good work, Mom.
