Random Happenings

Aunt Debbie came over yesterday and brought cousins Kyra and Grant over to play with Emmett. When Emmett saw Grant, he quickly crawled under the kitchen table and started to cry. I can't understand why he would do this. Oh wait. Flashback:

Okay, so maybe memories of how rough Grant can sometimes play made him a little nervous. But after a little bit he decided it was okay to risk playing.


This is my favorite picture from the day. Grant took Emmett's ducky and Emmett wanted it back, but then I gave him his crab. For those of you who don't know, the crab is Emmett's absolute FAVORITE bath toy, which is obviously superior to all other bath toys. He carries his crab all over the house with him, even into the bed if we let him. Poor Grant realized his mistake in grabbing the inferior toy, but it was too late. And Emmett obviously knows he's won this battle. :)

After Deb & Co. had left Emmett took a nice long nap. When he woke up I explained to him that his hair had gotten far too long and we were going to have to cut it. He wasn't thrilled at the news.

Because I am a chickenhearted mother, I couldn't bring myself to try cutting Emmett's hair on my own. I once tried to cut Debbie's hair, and as she remembers, I freaked out in the middle of it and made her wait over an hour for Krista to come home and finish the job. So hair cutting is not exactly within my comfort zone, even on an infant. Embarrassingly, I ended up shelling out the money and took him to Great Clips. Emmett did a great job and didn't even cry until the end when the clippers came out. I was very proud of him!

And last but not least, here's Emmett reading bedtime stories with his daddy. He was especially cute last night because he discovered that the hole in the front of his favorite book is a great place to stick fingers and tongues. :)
