At Long Last!

So poor little Emmett has spent the entire first year of his life sleeping in a play pen. We figure that this is much better than some stories we've heard of babies who had to sleep in drawers and cardboard boxes, but I've still always felt a little bad that our son has had to sleep on a mattress that feels a lot like a wood board. The nice thing is that he never complained since he didn't really know what he was missing. Also, he can't talk yet, but I'm sure that had nothing to do with it. On Monday we finally splurged and spent the big bucks at Walmart to get him a real crib and mattress. The next day we also went to Kid to Kid and bought a bumper and changing table. These are a few pics of our happy boy and his new bed.

Sleeping arrangements for the last year or so have looked like this:

Just look at this happy face the first time he got to play in his crib! This is before he realized that this was a place meant for sleeping instead of playing. :)

And of course we had to invite Emmett's friends over to check out the new bed. :)

Sleeping for the first time in his crib. It took a day or so to get the bumper, but no harm was done.

And finally, the finished product, complete with mismatched (but functional) changing table and bumper! Also, you'll notice the stacks of boxes lining all of the walls, but I'm just proud of the fact that the middle of the floor is clear.

And for your enjoyment, here's also a quick video of Emmett playing catch with his Daddy before bed.
