Easter Egg Hunt

We had a very simple Easter egg hunt in our backyard with just our family this year. We dyed eggs and then I also had about a dozen empty plastic eggs that we used for the joy of having more to find. Emmett refused to put any plastic eggs in his basket and insisted on using real ones. Bethany was much less picky. It was a lot of fun.

Bethany couldn't run fast enough! She screamed and shrieked and had a wonderful time gathering as many eggs as she could.

Emmett was much more selective, but very proud of himself every time he found one of the real eggs.

We let Emmett "hide" the eggs a couple of times, which basically meant that we all went inside and tried not to look while Emmett dumped all the eggs in a pile and kicked them repeatedly to spread them around. Any hard boiled eggs were more or less destroyed.

Counting eggs. Of course, Darwin joined us outside. It doesn't matter where he is when we walk out of the house and into the backyard, within a few minutes Darwin hears us and runs to join us. He'll hang out with us, play with the kids (the other day he was literally playing in the sprinkler with Emmett), and lay in the grass for as long as we're outside.

This was as close as I could get to having both kids smile at the camera at the same time.

I used to think it was weird that Grandpa Gasser always made Curtis and Debbie kiss in pictures when they were little. Now I completely understand...

... It's adorable!

We love our dog-kitty! He has really worked his way into our hearts!

While Bethany broke hard boiled eggs apart, Emmett found a water gun!

Lucky for Bethany, Daddy found a water gun too!
