He is extremely healthy, and when the doctor came into the room he told us that Emmett wins for the most adorable voice he's ever heard. It's true. Emmett does have the most adorable voice in the world. He was also a great helper when the doctor was looking at Bethany. He especially loved the sticker and suckers he got!
Emmett over the last few months has also become a bit braver! He is finally going places with his daddy and others without screaming if I don't accompany him. Emmett also is more adventerous on the playground! He loves to climb and go on swings and all of the slides, including the twisting or covered ones. Although he is still cautious and careful we are very proud of our boy for the progress he is making!
I love to hear him sing. Emmett sings and dances all day long, every day. We also enjoy putting our arms out and flying around the house like airplanes together. Emmett spends all of Bethany's waking hours trying to make her laugh and "keeping her safe" even when she doesn't need it. He loves his sister so much, but possibly not as much as he loves giving her orders as to where she should/shouldn't go and what toys she should/should not play with. Bethany either laughs at him, ignores him, swings punches at him, or screams bloody murder (the most common) as a result of his overbearing attention.
Emmett enjoys learning about new things. He loves dinosaurs, sharks, and more recently has become outer space. Favorite books include his discovery books on sharks, rain forests, and dinosaurs, as well as The Little Engine that Could and Francis the Scaredy Cat.
As of July 18th, Bethany weighed 16.4 lbs, which puts her back into the 1st percentile. She is 27.8in long, which places her in the 8th percentile for length.
At the time of her appointment she was crawling but had not yet learned to pull herself up on objects or climb stairs. Two days before Grandma and Grandpa Gasser came to visit, she started pulling herself up to a standing position. One week later she had figured out the stairs as well!!
Bethany is now playing peek-a-boo. She thinks she's quite hilarious. Observe:

Bethany doesn't have a lot of recognizable words to add to the list we already made, but she does mimic the sounds of many words she hears around her and babbles constantly. Every time she sees any thing that makes her happy (like a picture on the wall or in a book or a person that she finds interesting) she will point at it and exclaim, "Oooo!" She is of course, still Daddy's girl, and actually puts her hands on my face and pushes me away if she thinks I'm going to take her out of his arms for any reason after he comes home. She gives nice wet kisses on the cheek and exclaims, "Muah!" She's also a little bit shy with new people, but give her anywhere from a half hour to a couple of hours and she'll cuddle up to nearly anyone. I do think I am extremely lucky to have such cuddly kids! And let me tell you, this girl has some great dance moves! From shoulder wiggling, head bobbing, and bouncing on her bum to rocking back and forth on hands and knees, she loves all music.
