Life With Munchkins

This winter has been INCREDIBLY snowy and cold! During the worst storms the snow has piled up to about 3 feet, and the worst part is that it never seems to melt or go away. Each time it snows it just keeps piling higher and higher. I kind of wish I was 12 years old again because I know that I would have loved it back then. I'm not trying to complain too much. As long as I don't have anywhere to go then it's not such a big deal. I just know that I don't appreciate it nearly as much as I used to and a part of me kind of misses the old excitement and feeling of adventure that came with a good snow storm when I was a kid. Now I just get a stiff back from shoveling snow!

This can give you an idea of how deep the snow got in our front yard. It was pretty impressive!
Emmett enjoyed the snow, but it was a little too deep to play in. He didn't sink all the way down because there was a lot of old snow and ice layers supporting him. I was a little disappointed since I wanted to get a picture of him up to his nose in snow, but maybe next storm. :)

We've been trying to find indoor activities to do since the weather is so awful and we can't go outside. One fun thing we did a while back was to go "hand" bowling. Emmett loved it, but I think he still might be a little too young to grasp the concept...even with the bumpers up on the lanes.

Most of the time I just try to find ways to keep him busy at home. The other day I made play dough. I was so proud of myself! I felt like I had passed some sort of "authentic mom" test by making my own play dough.
We also spend a lot of time playing with bubbles in the sink.

And of course the two kids play together. Bethany just adores her big brother and watches everything he does.
Emmett is a great big brother. Here he is trying to get Bethany to say "Da-da". She never says it, but she loves it when he gets in her face and makes silly sounds.

We just had to get the camera out and record this face. I see his look at least a hundred times a day. Go ahead and laugh... you should. The first time I saw it, I thought it was funny too. And in a year I will look back on this picture and I know I will laugh then too. Right now, however, I see this look WAY too much for it to be that funny.

And what do you think has made him so pouty and upset? We tried to feed him pizza for dinner. What did he really want? Salad. Now in case you think we are terrible parents, we did give him salad and he ate it already. He's mad because he wants more cucumbers and we wanted him to eat some pizza instead. What planet did this child come from?

Lately, every time I come in to check on Emmett during his naps, I find that he has removed his socks and put them on his hands to sleep. I have no idea why he does this, but I think it's hilarious.

And here is one of the latest adorable pictures of our sweet little Bethany. She just cracks me up! Her personality is coming out more each day. She is finally making noise besides just whining and crying and has started to sing and babble a bit, though she remains on the whole a very quiet little monkey. Athough she doesn't say much yet, the smiles, giggles, squeals, leg kicking and rocking are so stinkin' cute that she wins everybody's heart in an instant! We have so much fun playing with our baby girl.
