Today I went back to the hospital for a catheter change. I insisted that I have some pretty strong anesthesia for the procedure as it hurts me so much. They had me go to "same day surgery" and gave me anesthesia called MAC. You are awake for the procedure, but thoroughly confused and spacey. They say you don't remember anything usually, but I do remember feeling it when they pulled out the catheter and put in the new one. I think it shocked the doctor that I still reacted to the pain even under such a strong drug. I remember him asking me both times if I was okay, and I tried to respond, but I'm not really sure if I was successful. I do have to say though that although I did still feel some of it, this was a hundred times better than just sitting in the office and having someone tell me to just tough it out while they yank. I got sick afterward, of course, and have spent some time throwing up. I'm very sore and tired, and of course Bethany has not cut me any slack but has been actively dancing on my bladder all day. I'm hoping that the next catheter change can be done during my c-section and I won't have to go through this again. We'll see!
