At 13 months old, Emmett still isn't walking. In fact, he didn't move past the army crawl to a real crawl until about 11 months old, so we don't expect he'll be very quick to walk. However, his vocabulary is growing like crazy! These are a few more recent words he has learned.
"A-nem" is his way of saying "Amen". He recognizes when we are praying and will sometimes say "a-nem" over and over during family prayer until we are finished. He also repeats it whenever he hears it at church.
"Ahh-done" is how he says "All done". He says it when he is finished eating and wants out of his high chair.
"Toot-Toot" is what he says when he passes a little gas. We think this is quite funny. I'm sure he picked it up on his own and not because of any encouragement from Casey or I. :)
"Up" when he is begging to be held.
"Quack!" when he hears the little duck sound play on one of his toys. He shouts it with so much exuberance that sometimes we aren't sure if he's quacking or barking.
"Woof!" when he sees a puppy or dog.
"Ba-ba" is his way of saying "bye-bye".
"Tan-coo" is a new one. Today at church he absolutely shocked everyone when he said "Thank you" to the couple behind us not just once but three times when they would hand back the toy he kept throwing on the ground.
At Emmett's one month appointment the doctor asked us if he was saying Mama and Dada yet and we told him that it was old news. At the time of our appointment Emmett already had at least seven or eight words down. Needless to say, our doctor was very impressed! Apparently it's unusual for a child to have so many words so early. This, of course, makes us very proud! :)
We try to get him to repeat some of his words for others, but he has become somewhat shy and doesn't perform easily. I got a few of his more basic/regular words that he's been saying for a while on camera last month and have been meaning to post them on the blog but keep forgetting. He doesn't say everything I tried for, but he does a pretty good job of being cute anyway. Enjoy!
