So last weekend, I came about as close as I've ever been to dying in a car accident.
I like to buy my groceries from Macey's, and rather than try to make a left turn out of the parking lot onto Bulldog Avenue, I always choose to go around to 300 W where there is a light with a left turn signal. So the other day I was sitting in the car, singing with the radio and waiting for the light to turn green. Naturally, when my light turned green, the light for the oncoming traffic turned red, and I moved into the intersection. Just as I pulled into the middle of the intersection, however, a crazy person in an SUV decided to run their red light. I slammed on my brakes, screamed (rather than honking the horn of course), and the other car swerved at the last second and somehow managed to just miss hitting me. Don't ask me how... it must have been by an inch or two because I couldn't see any space between our cars. I was so relieved that I wasn't hit (a car coming at the driver's side going 40-45 mph is enough to give you quite a scare) that I actually cried the rest of the way home.
As for the driver who almost hit me, don't worry... they stopped when they reached the other side of the intersection.

Wow, Lisa! I'm so glad you're okay. That is really scary.
I used to take that back way out of the Provo Maceys all the time too. I sure love and miss Maceys. I know that may sound weird, but I do.
Sad day.
I'm glad you're okay, too.
I once ran a red light in an SUV. It didn't go so well.
Trust me, they also felt scared and horrible.
Let's all ride bikes.
I'm so glad you're alive!!!
My husband can basically turn left on to any road at any time--there's always a gap for him. But me, on the other hand, I always go around the back ways too...
Scary! however, I don't believe you! Remember when we went out in the snow storm and our car like SPUN and the semi was coming right at us? That was pretty scary too! Was it close to that?
