I didn't babysit today and so we made sure we did a lot of fun and exciting activities.
The day started off the same as every other day, with everyone in my bed watching Blues Clues on the "big" TV. Even Bethany gets into it and dances to the theme song. I especially love this time of day because I get a chance to get dressed and then snuggle with my little loves.
Bethany and I took Emmett to joy school and then we re-arranged the downstairs furniture and toys. Everything looks much better now! |
And while we're on the subject of improvements, Casey and I purchased and installed blinds in the family room, dining room, and kitchen! We no longer live in a fishbowl! Yay!
After picking Emmett up from joy school, we drove to the aquarium in Sandy where we met up with my cousin, Torry Thornock, and her two little boys. I wish I had a picture of them also but I wasn't as on top of things as I should have been I guess. Boo. |
We had so much fun! Even Bethany enjoyed herself and would wildly flail her arms and legs and scream in delight whenever she noticed the larger fish, penguins, and otters swimming in front of her. |
After the aquarium we went to Wheeler Farm. Bethany slept through the entire thing, only to wake up when we got back to the car. I suppose that such a little person can only handle so much excitement in one afternoon. Emmett was in heaven. |
Still snoozing while Emmett admired the goats. |
This picture looks great, but I almost didn't get it in my rush to save his fingers from becoming this horse's lunch. Kids are fearless. Mothers are paranoid. |
Emmett loves to push his sister's stroller, even if it's a little hard to manage on his own. |
All tuckered out from our fun day, he didn't last 5 minutes in the car. |
Once we got home, the kids played in the family room and waited for Daddy to come home while I made dinner. |
Although Emmett usually does something a little scary once or twice a day, he generally plays very carefully with his little sister. I absolutely LOVE watching them interact. It melts my heart. Every time. |
After Casey came home we had family home evening and learned about Easter and why we celebrate Jesus' resurrection. I'm pretty sure it all went over our two-year-old's head, but he really loved the activity. He took "coloring" Easter eggs quite literally and we all eagerly broke out the crayons to use in addition to the dye. He had a blast. Bethany was too tired and went to bed at 6:30pm so she missed out on the fun. I'm sure she'll enjoy hunting them in the backyard later this week. |
I think we like this holiday! |
The artist at work. He is very focused.... |
We tried to get Emmett to hold up his egg and smile at the camera, but it was nearly impossible. He kept wanting to turn and look at the egg and couldn't be made to look my direction for any longer than a second or two. |
This was about as close as we got. Goofy sweet kid! We finished the night off with a little ice cream and chocolate syrup and he actually went to bed without crying. |
Most days as a mother consist of lots of screaming, crying, poop/pee, dishes, laundry, and a lot of hard work. Not that I mind, but I must say that days like today make the other ones a little easier. What a blessed and happy life we have!

I like your new furniture arrangement downstairs. Isn't it nice to change things up now and then?
Lisa, these photos are so fun! I'm missing my Utah grandkids!
