Labor Day Hike

So for Labor Day, Casey and I decided to do some random exploring up the canyon... especially since we have a new canyon to explore rather than the old familiar places around Provo. We drove a little way until we saw a trail head, pulled over, and started hiking. It was a trail to "Dog Lake" and we were kind of hoping that at the end of the three mile hike up the mountain there would be a pretty little mountain lake that we could back pack into for an overnight outing sometime. The hike was beautiful, but the lake wasn't much more than a mud puddle. In fact, we were disappointed to discover that if we had continued to drive up into the canyon, we could have parked the car and walked a mile over even terrain to get there. The whole place was covered in, well, dogs. I guess it's a favorite place for pet owners. Anyway, we still had fun getting there the "scenic" way and enjoyed getting to spend some time outdoors.
